We collect information necessary to provide and improve the Service:
2. Information You Provide
- Account information: when you sign up with email you provide your email address, display name, and password. Your password is sent over HTTPS and stored only as a salted bcrypt hash, never in plain text, and we cannot view it. Accounts created with Google sign-in have no password.
- Uploaded content: images and files you submit for translation. Originals are used solely for translation and are automatically deleted 48 hours after processing.
- Payment information: billing details processed through our payment provider (we do not store credit card information).
- Automatically collected information: when you use the Service, our servers temporarily record standard connection and usage data, such as your IP address (used for rate limiting and anti-fraud), browser and device characteristics, country, and access logs. Anonymous users may be assigned a random device identifier stored in a cookie, solely to enforce the free-page quota. This data is not used to build advertising profiles.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to: provide the translation Service, process payments, send service notifications (task completion, file expiry reminders), communicate important updates, and improve Service quality. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
- Creem: Payment processing. Creem collects and processes payment data in accordance with their own privacy policy.
- Resend: Email delivery for notifications and verification codes. Resend processes email data per their privacy policy (resend.com/privacy).
- Waffo Pancake: Payment processing. Waffo collects and processes payment data in accordance with their own privacy policy.
- AI translation providers: the text recognized from your images is passed to third-party AI translation providers that generate your translation on our behalf. They process it solely to provide that service to us and are not permitted to use it for any other purpose.
- Google: if you sign in with Google, the authentication of your Google account is handled by Google under Google's own privacy policy.
- Anti-abuse services: at registration your email address may be checked against a third-party service to detect disposable or fraudulent addresses.
5. Data Retention
Uploaded files and translation results are automatically deleted after 48 hours. Account information is retained for the duration of your account. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
6. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication (login session) and language preference. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.
7. Your Rights
- Access: You can view your account information through the Service.
- Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us.
- Opt-out: You can disable email notifications in your account settings.
8. Browser Extension
The MangaOCR browser extension (Chrome and other Chromium browsers, plus Orion on iOS) handles data as follows:
- Images you translate: when you use right-click translate, long-press translate (mobile), or auto-translate, the extension sends that image to our servers for OCR and translation. It does not read, collect, or transmit other pages you visit, your browsing history, or form data.
- Local storage: your sign-in state, target language, and settings are kept in your own browser (chrome.storage). The extension does not keep translation results. The extension never stores your password.
- Broad site access: the extension requests access to the pages you browse only to find and replace image content on manga sites. That access is not used to collect information from those pages.
- Uninstalling: removing the extension stops all of the above and deletes its local data. On some browsers an optional feedback page may open; submitting it is entirely voluntary.
- Sharing: the image you translate is sent to our servers, and the text extracted from it is passed to third-party AI translation providers, solely to produce your translation. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- Storage and security: images you translate are processed on our secure servers, transmitted over HTTPS, and automatically deleted within 48 hours. Your sign-in token is stored only in your browser's local extension storage. We apply administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
- Limited use: the images and page content the extension accesses are used only to provide and maintain the translation feature you requested; they are transferred only to service providers that enable that feature, are never used for advertising, and are not reviewed by humans except as needed to keep the service operational, secure, and compliant, or at your request.
9. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and short retention of processed images. No method of transmission over the Internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
